Atlanta Fusion Belly Dance Instructors Faaridah and Leena have received official Sister Studio status by Carolena Nericcio, founder of Fat Chance Belly Dance® American Tribal Style®!! Faaridah and Leena completed the General Skills Certification in 2011 in Birmingham, Alabama, and Teacher Training 1&2 in Atlanta, GA Summer of 2012.
What is a sister studio?
Sister Studios are graduates of General Skills for ATS® , and ATS® Teacher Training. These teachers are dedicated to presenting ATS® as created and developed by Fat Chance Belly Dance® Director and Master Teacher Carolena Nericcio. Sister Studios do not blend ATS® with other styles of dance, tribal or otherwise. Which means that when you attend an ATS® class at AFBD, it will be presented as purely ATS®, and will be clearly separate from the other styles of dance offered at our studio.
What is ATS®?
American Tribal Style®, ATS® is a method of improvisational choreography, using a vocabulary of natural movements and cues allowing the dancers to communicate via gesture when dancing together. The effect is a vibrant thread drawing the audience into the tapestry. ATS® classes taught at AFBD follow the format and technique developed by Carolena Nericcio and Fat Chance Belly Dance®. In our 6-week ATS® courses you will learn to dance by drilling the basics in fun combinations. Using both slow movements and fast steps you will begin dancing in your first class! You will also be introduced to partner and group dancing. Please bring Zills to class starting week 2.
Classes will be offered in 6-week sessions periodically throughout the year.
